A deliciously sweet recipe that will brilliantly accompany the sugar shack season... and any other time of the year!

Dumplings dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • ¼ cup Coureur des bois maple whiskey

Cooking liquid

  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • ¾ cupCoureur des bois maple whiskey
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup of Café William's decaf

Combine dry ingredients in a bowl. Cut the butter and stir into the dry ingredients until crumbly. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the milk and the whiskey. Mix dough quickly with a fork until just smooth.

Place cooking liquid in a large skillet with a tight-fitting lid. Bring to a boil. Drop the dumplings dough by spoonfuls into the boiling liquid, spacing the spoonfuls well apart. Cover and simmer over medium heat, without ever lifting the lid, for 15 minutes. Serve immediately. Let the cooking liquid reduce and pour over the dumplings.

Bon appétit!
