Sourcing
Sourcing from sustainable origins and organic beans
As one of Canada’s leading importers of Fairtrade coffee, everything starts at the source. We work with Fairtrade cooperatives and farmers dedicated to growing certified organic coffee. At Café William, we’re committed to supporting farmers, both in how they grow coffee and in the future of their communities.
Transport
Cargo Sailboat
It began as a bold idea. Daring, ambitious, maybe even a little bit wild. Now our wind-powered cargo sailboat carries coffee beans from Colombia to Quebec, steering our mission to craft the world’s most sustainable coffee.
Roasting
100% Electric Roaster
Café William’s industrial roaster is the world’s first to operate entirely on hydroelectric power, enabling coffee roasting without the combustion of fossil fuels. It can roast up to 20 million pounds of coffee per year and helps reduce approximately 800 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent annually compared to traditional roasting methods.
Production
LEED® certified eco-friendly facility
At Café William, LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification reflects our commitment to rethinking coffee production in a more responsible way. It recognizes the environmental performance of our facility, built in 2023, particularly in terms of energy efficiency, water management, the use of sustainable materials, and the quality of work environments. This certification confirms that our sustainability commitments are translated into concrete actions at the very heart of our operations.
Governance
Certified B Corp company
We believe good coffee can make a difference. That’s why we chose to become a certified B Corp, holding ourselves to the highest social and environmental standards.
Packaging
More eco-friendly packaging
One step closer to responsible circular recycling: 30% of our new coffee bags are made from recycled materials. Because packaging should be as kind to the planet as the coffee inside.
