A deliciously sweet treat with a twist, perfect for the sugar shack season—or any time of the year!

Dumpling Dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup Coureur des bois maple whiskey

Cooking Liquid:

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt. Work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture becomes crumbly.
  2. Create a well in the center of the dry mixture and pour in the milk and whiskey. Stir with a fork until the dough just comes together and is evenly combined.
  3. In a large skillet with a tight-fitting lid, combine the maple syrup, maple whiskey, water, and Café William’s decaf coffee. Bring to a boil.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling dough into the boiling liquid, one by one. Cover, reduce the heat and simmer over medium heat for 15 minutes, without lifting the lid.
  5. Allow the cooking liquid to reduce slightly before pouring it over the dumplings. Serve hot.

Bon appétit!
